NEW-NEW-NEW
Did everyone take advantage of all the after holiday sales? How many of you ended up with a sweater in a delightful shade of puce that was really cheap? I'm an artist but even I question the true color of "puce"!
Well most of the sales are over and now it's time again to be a savvy shopper as you look at all the beautiful new spring merchandise starting to appear.
I have returned from the gift shows with new merchandise and new decorating trends. Blue is the new spring color...did blue ever really go out? This blue is clear and calming. White lampshades work well in a blue decorating scheme and give a bright and cheery light to the room. They look best on crystal lamps and bases with a silver or pewter finish. Look around your rooms--do they need a brighter look?
Yes, spring does come every year but don't hold your breath as we all know that Pucsatawny Phil saw his shadow so we have a few more weeks of winter yet to go. So put out a pretty vase of fresh flowers on you kitchen counter and dream of again seeing green leaves on the trees.
Please look at all the new items on our site as we continue to update and e-mail me at info@gerianns.com with decorating challenges you would like me to cover in this column. I enjoy hearing from you and "think spring"!
"First Impressions"
Welcome back to GeriAnns! Your first visit? Enjoy!
I will be using this space to occasionally (weekly?....maybe....)share some of my favorite decorating ideas with you. I should get better at the photos as I go along. I promise!
Today's photo is of the front of our "brick and mortor" store in the Historic District of Frankfort, Illinois. Our retail store is open 7 days a week and our staff of 6 will be the same gals you will speak with when you call our toll-free number--888-464-7174. Via e-mail you will most often be hearing from me.
In your home, as in our store, you want everyone that enters to feel comfortable. As we all know, first impressions are most important.
When my husband and I were in Ireland last year, each morning we would see people (men & women) sweeping & scrubbing the front stoops of their homes. The doors shone when free of dust and the sidewalks were pristine. This first impression of their homes is the one I'll always remember.
After the long winter--it did snow until mid April in northern Illinois!--take some time to sweep that porch and wash those windows. Bring in the sunshine and along with your smile and a cup of tea you guests will always remeber their first impressions.
Until our next visit let the sun shine in!
